Got the Tail

Posted by admin on March 31st, 2009

I captured a usual Tail around the house. Harley catching Ozzbourne’s tail while playing with it.

Here is a great read: Cats vs. Dogs

Question: How Many Dogs Does It Take To Change A Light Bulb?

1. Golden Retriever:
The sun is shining, the day is young, we’ve got our whole lives ahead of us, and you’re inside worrying about a stupid burned out bulb?

2. Border Collie:
Just one. And then I’ll replace any wiring that’s not up to code.

3. Dachshund:
You know I can’t reach that stupid lamp!

4. Rottweiler:
Make me.

5. Boxer:
Who cares? I can still play with my squeaky toys in the dark.

6. Lab:
Oh, me, me!!!!! Pleeeeeeeeeze let me change the light bulb!
Can I? Can I? Huh? Huh? Huh? Can I? Pleeeeeeeeeze, please, please, please!

7. German Shepherd:
I’ll change it as soon as I’ve led these people from the dark, check to make sure I haven’t missed any, and make just one more perimeter patrol to see that no one has tried to take advantage of the situation.

8. Jack Russell Terrier:
I’ll just pop it in while I’m bouncing off the walls and furniture.

9. Old English Sheep Dog:
Light bulb? I’m sorry, but I don’t see a light bulb.

10. Cocker Spaniel:
Why change it? I can still pee on the carpet in the dark.

11. Chihuahua:
Yo quiero Taco Bulb.

12. Pointer:
I see it, there it is, there it is, right there …

13. Greyhound:
It isn’t moving. Who cares?

14. New Zealand Sheep Dog:
First, I’ll put all the light bulbs in a little circle…

15. Poodle:
I’ll just blow in the Border Collie’s ear and he’ll do it. By the time he finishes rewiring the house, my nails will be dry.

The Cat’s Answer:
“Dogs do not change light bulbs. People change light bulbs. So, the real question is: How long will it be before I can expect some light, some dinner, and a massage?”

All of which proves, once again, that while dogs have masters, cats have staff.

Greetings Tail

Posted by admin on March 27th, 2009

When my husband and I come home, we are greeted by Ozzbourne with his ROPE in mouth running to the front yard with it to play. Yesterday, when these pictures were taken, we had a visitor that does not come over often. Ozzbourne knows him and was growling at him with the rope in his mouth. I guess it was a playful attempt to protect us.

I’m sure most of you have heard news about issues with Petland and Puppy Mills. I’m a big believer that Puppy Mills(ran out of houses or shops) are a major problem in the inhumane treatment of animals. There are so many animals without homes because a human wanted to make a buck off of them. I’m obviously a big animal lover, but I can’t get involved in the fight for animals. I cry every time I read of someone’s loss of a pet, a story about the mistreatment of or a animals will to survive. If you have the strength to fight for animals then visit the following link and do what you can. Gaining knowledge of inhumane acts or mistreatment of animals and passing the word, alone is helpful. ☮

Hamming Tail

Posted by admin on March 24th, 2009

My pets are just hamming it up in these photos. Breeze is enjoying her high cat perch, Ozzbourne is wondering if he’s going to get a cookie and Harley is having himself a small dog cookie.

Most of us love milk, so here are some Cow Facts:

1. Studies have shown that classical music helps cows produce more milk.

2. The temperature of milk when it leaves the body of a cow is 101 degrees Fahrenheit. The milk is then quickly chilled and stored at a temperature of 40 degrees Fahrenheit.

3. You would have to milk 260 cows for an entire year to fill a space shuttle’s external fuel tank with 529,000 gallons of milk.

4. Cows are able to hear lower and higher frequencies better than human beings.

5. Cows do not have any upper front teeth. Instead they have a thick pad on the top jaw.

6. Cows drink anywhere from 25-50 gallons of water each day.

7.Dairy cows can produce 20 to 35 gallons of saliva a day.

☛ Wow to # 6 & 7. ☚

Hope all are having beautiful weather.

It’s The Dog’s Things Tail

Posted by admin on March 20th, 2009

Harley loves to get into dog things. Dog food, dog toys, dog treats, dog beds and dog faces. Here, he is into a basket of dog toys and has found a dog bone. He does like to take his time licking the bones. He will spend an hour with a bone. I have always thought that maybe he was a dog in a past life.

Dog and Cat facts:

Cats make over 100 different vocal sounds; dogs can make about ten.

Dogs and cats, like humans, are either right or left handed… or is that paws?!

Dogs and cats consume over $11 billion worth of pet food a year!

Here is Breeze lounging on her favorite bed in the house. My bed.
Yes Breeze, you are very cute.

Have a great weekend!

Sock Playing Tail

Posted by admin on March 17th, 2009

One of Harley’s favorite things to play with is socks. As a kitten, he would get one from the bedroom in his mouth and drag it down the hallway between his legs. He would have to go very slow because the carpet would make it a little harder for him to drag it on. When I fold socks and he’s around, I throw them at him and he plays catch. I’ve had some 20 odd pairs of socks on him at one time. Enjoy the photos of this big kitty with a sock fetish. Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Rainbow Tail

Posted by admin on March 15th, 2009

The pictures of the rainbow were taken in February.
Two are from the north east side of Las Vegas near Nellis Air Force Base and the rest were from coming down from Mt. Charleston towards the north west side of Las Vegas. The last picture is of the other end of the rainbow, unfortunately I was unable to capture it well. I hope you enjoy the beautiful clouds and colors.

Here is some dog facts that I promised from my last post:

1. Chained dogs are 3 times more likely to bite than unchained dogs.

2. Contrary to popular belief, dogs do not only sweat by salivating. They also sweat through the poors on their feet.

3. Dogs and cats consume over $11 billion worth of pet food a year!

4. Dogs can hear sounds that you cant!

5. Greyhounds have the best eyesight of any breed of dog.

6. Over one million stray dogs live in the New York City metropolitan area.

7. The average city dog lives three years longer than the average country dog.

Wow, #6 is incredible to believe.

Be sure to give your dogs a hug and a treat: dogs, be sure to return the hug and please nobody forget the cats in this. The picture of Ozzbourne shows the response you should get when doing this.

Front Row Seats Tail

Posted by admin on March 13th, 2009

My husband provided the bed/perch and I open the blinds everyday for the cats to have front row bird watching seats.
Is this wrong?

Some cat facts:

1. A cat will clean itself with paw and tongue after a dangerous experience or when it has fought with another cat. This is an attempt by the animal to soothe its nerves by doing something natural and instinctive.

2. A cat uses whiskers to determine if a space is too small to squeeze through. The whiskers act as antennae, helping the animal to judge the precise width of any passage.

3. One out of four American households own a cat.

4. Just like fingerprints, every cats nose pad is different.

5. In a lifetime, the average house cat spends approximately 10,950 hours purring.

6. A house cat spends 70% of its time sleeping.

I think cats don’t spend as much time sleeping in the spring/summer as they do winter.

I apologize to the dogs and dog owners.
I will have some dog facts on my next post.
Enjoy your weekend!

I Did The Bird Watching Tail

Posted by admin on March 9th, 2009

The cats were sleeping yesterday and I did the bird watching for them. I was not as good as cats are. I smacked the window several times with the camera, which scared them into the trees. I did manage to capture some resting in my rose bed.

Bird fact:
Over 10,000 birds a year die from smashing into windows.

Maybe somebody will come up with a new window design that birds can SEE.

Happy Spring everyone!

Evidence Tail

Posted by admin on March 6th, 2009

Harley, we have to get rid of these pictures.
They are evidence that I allowed you to grab my sandwich and have a taste.
Turkey and cheese sandwich.
He couldn’t resist.
