Breeze T.V.

Breeze T.V.

Again, I apologize for me being M.I.A.(missing in action). My water leak is still not quite resolved.  My Husband has found a couple of small leaks, that went unnoticed because we live in the desert(water evaporated). My Husband has done some plumbing to fix those leaks and one has just been a real pain.

I have been on the phone trying to figure the leak or leaks out without spending money that I don’t have and avoiding the digging. I have had some work that this whole leak thing prepared me for physically. For those of you that don’t know, I’m a stagehand and most of us either left Las Vegas for the summer on tour or stayed and struggled. I hope robbing Peter to pay Paul is coming to a end and when it’s all over I gain my creative flow back.

Words on my animals: Ozzbourne has been nosing in the holes in the yard. Breeze has been watching T.V. to entertain herself. Harley has taken up yoga again with me(it helps the sore, aching body wake up and loosen up.)  It is annoying to have to move a cat every pose I do in yoga. He just manages to roll back onto the mat after I’ve shoved him away.

Good feeling note: I had a gift shop interested in purchasing my “Shark Collection” at wholesale prices. I had to turn them down, I can’t undercut myself.

Have a wonderful Halloween and weekend!

House trench

Main entering house ?

I apologize for not being around for a week now. I have been in my yard working hard as a gofer. I have a water leak on my property and have to do the work myself. The leak is underground and is not visible.

The city and county do not keep plans for houses more than three years, so I’m basically looking for a needle in a haystack. A few of my neighbors have had to fix there main water line in the past and tell me that it is at least 4′ in the ground.

The ground in Las Vegas is hard and has a lot of rock in it, making it a slow digging process. I have had a frustrating time trying to find my main line without digging to the center of the earth. I will find the leak, so help me. It has been a very challenging experience. I like to think that the experience is prepping me for work to come-I’ve been laid off all summer. When I have fixed it, I will take with me a greater learning of patience with me.

I hope all of you have a wonderful weekend.

Good news-I found what I think is my main line. Now, the digging continues and hopefully I find the leak in my yard.

Here is a close up of the sneaky main. It is about 2 feet in the ground and I’m hoping it doesn’t drop deeper.

Thank you for letting me share, vent, wine, bitch and moan all at once.

I wanted to share with you a sanctuary that is only a year old here in Las Vegas, Nv.  Foreclosed upon Pets Inc. I have found this to be the organization that I’m going to become involved in.

How F.U.P.I. was born:

The Las Vegas community has been largely effected by the economic hardships. One in every 13 households in our county received a foreclosure filing in the first half of 2009. We are at almost a 14% unemployment rate. Pets have been effected and have been dumped in the desert, abandoned at feral cat feeding stations, left at veterinary hospitals and have been left to fend for themselves in a empty house.

A wonderful man, Everett Croxson co-founded F.U.P.I. in Oct. 2008. The group operates out of a foreclosed house purchased by Croxson. The house is a staging area for the fostering and adoption of pets. It is legally considered now a foster home and has gained nonprofit status as of February 2009. The county, Clark, dictates how many animals can be in the house at once. The house has many rooms to keep the cats separate from the dogs.

The mission of F.U.P.I.:

Webster’s definition of foreclosure:  To shut out.
FUPI will make its services known to individual owners of pets who are suffering from the following:

  1. Economic hardship due to loss of job/home
  2. Insufficient income
  3. Temporary housing for hospitalized pet owners
  4. Temporary housing of military pets
  5. Death of a pet owner

Some pets come from loving families that have no choice but to relinquish their animals to animal control authorities due to home foreclosure.

Some rescued pets come from owners who have passed away or due to severe illness can no longer care for their pet.

Other animal’s come from less responsible pet owners who have neglected, abused and/or abandoned their pets. Upon rescue, many of these animals are in need of medical attention, appropriate food, and socialization with people and other animals.

FUPI’s approach to animal rescue will be a proactive alternative to animal cruelty and abandonment.

How F.U.P.I. finds homes:

They call the website a cyber sanctuary. They send e-mail blasts about once a week showing adoptable animals and ask that the recievers forward the e-mail or print it and post it at work. The group has only a core of 10 people and 20 others act as foster parents.

The group has a long Wish List. I think my husband and I can help with the skills they made need help with.

I  recently mentioned to Sharla, over at the Beaded Tail, that I wanted to start or get involved with a group that offered volunteer care of pets or Temporary housing of pets for hospitalized pet owners. I think I found my group.

Miss Breeze-Mascot

Last year, I started a part time business hand crafting goods called Miss Breezy’s Box. I donate 10% of my profits to animal sanctuaries. I just made a donation on 10-08-09 to Foreclosed Upon Pets Inc.

I hope you enjoyed my sharing a wonderful organization with you. Have a great weekend! Scratch your pets on the head for me. Thanks!

Tabatha 1991-January 2008

My Tabatha was a very pretty Tortoiseshell and smart kitty when it came to cabinets. She could open the cabinets with her paws. She would just peak in them, never go in or out.

Some of you might remember from my old blog home, that Harley has a fetish with boxes.

Well, he also has a fetish with cabinets. Harley forces himself in when they have been opened.

He inspects items in the cabinets. Sometimes,  he samples plastic. A bad habit he has picked up from Breeze.

I think the cabinet where the dog cookies are kept, is his favorite. Why wouldn’t it be? He knows that they’re for Ozzbourne, who he adores. Ozzbourne  stood over him and watched him eat his food when he was a kitten.

What cabinet is your pets favorite?

This week,  I visited the fossilized Tyrannosaurus Rex exhibit at The Venetian Resort, Hotel and Casino here in Las Vegas.

A auction for the fossils of “Samson” is being held today Saturday October 3, 2009 and is expected to fetch $6 million.  Experts say the 170 bones discovered about 17 years ago in South Dakota represent more than half the skeleton of a 40-foot-long, 7.5 ton dinosaur that lived 66 million years ago.

The fossils included in the exhibit were up to 225 billion years old and half of them were probably found in your backyard in Kansas, Montana , South Dakota, Alaska, Wyoming and Nebraska.

They even had one of two known fossilized gemstones.

It was a great exhibit and I took too many pictures to share them all.  I have a jewelry collection made with fossilized shark teeth in my Etsy shop. The teeth are from Morocco and approximately 50 million years old.
